Laura is a beautiful 1 year 2 month old Redbone Coonhound/ ridgeback rescue from Louisiana who recently joined us in Seattle.

She is up on her vaccinations and has a totally clear bill of health.  She is loving and gentle with all people, especially wonderful with children. She is mid-large dog weighing almost 60 lbs. She is in superb physical condition.  She is a tawny lion-color with a black muzzle and tail tip. Her fur is very soft and ears are long and silky.

Laura is fairly quiet- doesn’t bark very much except occasionally at strangers whom she doesn’t know that approach the house.  She is a soulful, slightly moody dog, with a huge heart and need for great amounts of affection and love. She is a loving companion with a good “lean” and a great love for food.  She stays in the house (with dog-door so that she can come and go into the yard) and can be content by herself for 3 hours at a time.

She knows her name. She sits for treats. She knows the commands “Sit”, “Leave it”, “Come” , “On your Bed” and “Load up” for the car. She needs to be leashed and is working on her recall skills, like most pups she would benefit greatly from a puppy class as she is still very young and has some learning to do :)

She is leash-trained (wears a harness with lead) and is working too on not pulling when walking around places that have a lot of scents (trails, around bunnies, deer paths, etc) animals and people she wants to say hi to.  As a hound she has the typical prey drive and would need lots of training to be around other smaller animals so probably a home without cats would be best!

As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from preapproved adopters.  You are welcome to fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org; please fill this in as well as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $250 which includes all vetting and microchipping.
