Salty Dog has a very heartbreaking story. He was adopted as a pup from a shelter in Louisiana by a family that had two severely autistic adult children that they cared for. Salty was their beloved companion for the next four years. Tragically, his human Mom died right in front of him and Salty Dog lost his entire family in that moment. A family friend took him in and Salty wouldn't let go of his Mom's bathrobe for the next six months while he grieved. Salty Dog is now about 6 years old and looking for a new home. Where he is staying has 3 small dogs, a medium dog and two cats that he does wonderfully with (he loves to play, play fetch and nap with them). At this point, due to his lack of socialization in his previous home, he doesn't do well with big dogs, but he is currently in training to help him with that issue. Salty is potty-trained, good with children and not destructive in the house. He's just a goofy lap dog who needs a family to love him for the rest of his life.
