Catahoula Leopard Dog / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium Learn more about the Catahoula Leopard Dog.
Callie first came to us 4yrs ago and was happily adopted almost immediately to a family who have now decided they can no longer keep her :( Her first few days back in her foster home were very confusing and scary as she got used to a whole new situation without understanding why. Thankfully she is coming out of her shell a little more each day and becoming more playful and cuddly as time passes. She is an absolute delight to have around and we do not truly understand why her family were able to give her up. Callie is SUPER smart and already well trained, no accidents in the house at all and she feels very safe and secure in her crate at night and when you go out. She knows ALL her basic commands including sit, down, up, off, sit up, drop it, fetch etc and she is very treat motivated which would make further training super easy. She is a little cautious when new people arrive and will bark her hellos but she soon settles down when you praise her for alerting you! She barks a little when playing and excited with the other dogs in the house and enjoys playing fetch and catch as often as you are willing to play with her. After some playtime she loves to lay at your feet and was even enticed on to the bed this morning to give her foster mom a cuddle! Callie likes having other dogs around and seems to have become more confident with their lead. She was very cautious at first and although she does not like "in your face" dogs she won't react beyond finding a place to hide away from them. She isn't a fan of having her rear end sniffed either and will growl to let others know. Callie loves the kids in her foster home and runs to greet them every morning and when they get in from school - she would probably be best with older children who understand she doesn't like her rear end or tail touched very much and who are willing to throw her toys for her! Callie's foster says she is one of the easiest fosters she has had the pleasure of having in her home. We were able to place her with the same foster family as she had 4yrs ago and they are loving their time with her. But it is time for her to find her own loving family. So if you have the love and patience to give please read on for how to apply! *As a purely foster based rescue, we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from pre-approved adopters. Please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can. It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process. Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $300 which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and microchipping.
