Eleanor came from a terrible hoarding situation in Louisiana and was very shut down when we first pulled her . It took her a little while but she has blossomed in the past couple of months. She is still a bit timid and takes some time to warm up (goes for both people and dogs) but once she does she's very playful and affectionate. Eleanor is completely house trained and crate trained, she is also somewhat leash trained but would benefit from additional training as she is eager to please. When in an unfamiliar area, she still tends to freeze in place out of fear. Eleanor was very scared of other dogs when we first took her in and would be defensive towards them. She is still that way towards new dogs when they come up to her (will show her teeth and growl but does not snap at them), but if given time she will accept them once she realizes they are not going to hurt her.

Eleanor would do best in a quiet home with plenty of patience at first, but she will soon come to trust and be a wonderful dog and loyal companion. She will require slow introductions to new people and especially new dogs, so if there are kids in the home they should be older (10+) and dog savvy. If Eleanor sounds like she might be a good fit for you, please consider submitting an application for adoption. Instructions and details are in the paragraph below.

As a purely foster based rescue, we have no central location where you can visit our dogs. Therefore, we only honor meet requests from pre-approved adopters, with an application on file.  Please fill in our online adoption application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can and allow at least 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Eleanor's Adoption Fee is $400 which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and micro-chipping. *Completion of obedience training is a requirement for adoption through AARF.*
