Meet the sweetest and handsomest boy Duke! He is approximately 3 years old and weighs 40 lbs. He is a great dog who just loves to be with his people. Poor Duke found himself in a high kill shelter in Louisiana after his family went through a bad divorce and his dad was unable to take care of him as he worked offshore and was gone for weeks at a time.

Duke is content to just be close to you and be wherever you are. He does not jump up and vie for attention and shows no jealousy when other dogs are getting attention. He does bark when the doorbell rings or someone drives up, but not in an aggressive manner. In fact, when they leave, he wants to "go with" and goes to the window and whines as they drive off.

Duke would do well in a home with or without other pets. He gets along with every one and every dog he meets and is pretty laid back. Duke is great with respectful children as well. Duke's perfect home would be with someone who is home most of the time to be able to spend their time with him. He would make a wonderful companion for someone who is in need of a relaxed dog who just wants your love and attention. If Duke sounds like he might be a good fit for you, please consider submitting an application for adoption.  Instructions and details are in the paragraph below.

Duke developed idiopathic seizures when he was in Louisiana and was put on Levetiracetiam to control them.  Since coming up to Seattle we have been working with our vet to use a holistic approach to treat them, acupuncture, CBDs and specific herb formulas.

As a purely foster based rescue, we have no central location where you can visit our dogs. Therefore, we only honor meet requests from pre-approved adopters, with an application on file.  Please fill in our online adoption application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can and allow at least 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Duke's Adoption Fee is $375 which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and micro-chipping. *Completion of obedience training is a requirement for adoption through AARF.*
