Meet Lanie!  She is a 10 year old aussie/lab mix who was surrendered to a rural Louisiana shelter by her owner for no reason other than her age. She gets along with other dogs of all sizes and loves people, but she definitely loves having the attention all to herself. She is sure to make anyone a wonderful companion for as long as they'll have her. Although she is a senior dog, her energy level is still great and she doesn't "act" like a senior dog.  She can keep up with the pups at the dog park and run with them just the same!  Her favorite toy of all time is her medium size chuck it ball and she will chase it to no end!  She absolutely loves to play ball.

In addition to being sweet as pie, Lanie is very food motivated and is a sucker for pets and attention. If she sees another dog getting attention she will come right in and ask for the same :)  She is a professional snuggler and takes that job very seriously. She could snuggle up to you on the couch and not move an inch if you plan on a movie marathon night. On the other hand, she loves to know what her people are up to and will follow you to ensure you are doing things correctly. Lanie is a people pleaser and listens to commands well like leave it, back up, sit, stay, lay down, go pee pee,  and could still learn several more if you wanted her to - she picks them up quickly. Her recall is good, but a ball and treats definitely help with that effort!   Lanie is also on a regular vet prescribed medication for bladder control called Proin 75 which can be purchased on Chewy.com and is approximately $20. She has had no bladder issues since starting this medication.

If you're looking for a sweet, older gal to keep you active, but also be a champion snuggler, Lanie is your gal!

As a purely foster-based rescue, we have no central location where you can visit our dogs.  Therefore, we only honor meeting requests from pre-approved adopters, with an application on file. Please complete our online adoption application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can and allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteer staff. Lanie's adoption fee is $300 which includes, vetting (including spay/neuter) and micro-chipping.
