Gus needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
For a more detailed description and additional photos/videos of Gus, please visit our website at myaarf.org. Gus and his brother Teddy were pulled from a rural Louisiana kill shelter. It was not known at the time that they both had several open wounds and abscesses on their little bodies. The vet thought they were attacked by either another animal/dog or human. They had a rough start in life and were extremely scared and timid when they first arrived at their foster home. They did not eat or drink for a couple of days. However, after a couple of weeks of gentle encouragement and building trust, they have really come out of their shells. Gus is a people-pleaser who loves attention. He walks very well on leash and will go to the door to let you know he has to potty. The crate is not his favorite, but with a little encouragement, he will go in and settle down. Gus only barks if he has to go potty while he is in his crate, otherwise he is pretty quiet. He is very shy at first, but warms up to you quickly and when he wags his tail, his whole body joins in with pure joy. He would make any family, willing to open up their hearts, a wonderful family dog for years to come. Gus would love a big yard to run around in, regular walks and would love to explore and hike the beautiful PNW on the weekends with his new person or family. He would make a great adventure companion and would be happy to join you on life's adventures. If you shower him with your love and attention, he could never ask for anything more. If you think you might be a good fit for Gus, please see the details below regarding applying to meet/adopt Gus. Gus is being fostered in Lynnwood, WA. As a purely foster-based rescue, we have no central location where you can visit our dogs. Therefore, we only honor meeting requests from pre-approved adopters, with an application on file. Please complete our online adoption application at www.myaarf.org/forms as fully as you can and allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteer staff. Gus' adoption fee is $450 which includes transportation, vetting (including spay/neuter) and micro-chipping. Completion of obedience training is a requirement for adoption through AARF.
