Teddy needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
For a more detailed listing with additional photos, please visit Teddy's listing on our website at myaarf.org Teddy and his sibling Gus had a very rough start in life. They were pulled from a rural Louisiana kill shelter and were found with multiple open wounds, cuts and abscesses. The vet thought they may have been attacked by another animal or even a person. Due to this traumatic event, when they first arrived at their foster home they were completely shut down and would not eat or drink for a couple of days and would constantly hide. It took a couple weeks of building trust and constant encouragement, but they both have come out of their shells. Teddy is very shy at first but will warm up to you pretty quickly. He does not like the word “No” (we believe it may be linked to the traumatic event that left him with his multiple wounds). Therefore, when correcting him we use other phrases such as "Don’t do that" or "Stop". He loves treats and will do basic commands with food as a motivator, so he will be a breeze to train. Teddy does play with the cat and won't hurt it, but he can be very rough when playing, so we do not recommend placing him in a home with cats. Teddy would love to have a nice fenced yard he can lounge and run around in. He loves walks and exploring, so he would make an excellent walking or hiking companion and would enjoy following along on your adventures. Teddy would love to have a fur sibling or two to play with because he doesn’t do well when left alone. He loves giving kisses and getting attention, so someone that would have plenty of time and love to give him would be ideal. We would hope for someone who may be retired, stays at home, or works from home a lot for Teddy. If you think you might be the right fit for Teddy, please see the details below regarding applying for adoption. Teddy is being fostered in Lynnwood, WA. As a purely foster-based rescue, we have no central location where you can visit our dogs. Therefore, we only honor meeting requests from pre-approved adopters, with an application on file. Please complete our online adoption application at www.myaarf.org/forms as fully as you can and allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteer staff. Teddy's adoption fee is $450 which includes transportation, vetting (including spay/neuter) and micro-chipping. Completion of obedience training is a requirement for adoption through AARF.
