Isn't Daffodil a beauty? She's a smart young lady just under a year old who is looking for a home of her own with an active family or a doggie playmate to hang out with. She is good with cats and other dogs but does need supervision when playing to make sure her puppiness isn't overwhelming for her playmate. She can be a little mouthy when she gets super excited but is not in any way aggressive. She is potty and crate trained.

Here's what Daffodil has to say, "

My tail wags for you!

Seeking: A walking buddy who wants unconditional love in return.

Think of me as your personal trainer.  I want to walk, hike, run and play. Then, I want to snuggle lots and be your cuddle buddy. I am a quick learner.  I want to show you all that I see (I’m very observant).  Above all, I want to be loved. Forever.

I was born almost a year ago and since then I’ve been looking for the right “one”. I can’t imagine why I’m not already settled in with my forever people. I have a smile that can light up a room. I’m almost always happy and there to greet you with a tail wag.  I love to chase the ball… but, guess what… I’m clever and will make you play fetch, too!  I can hang out in the crate when I need to as well!

I lived with another foster family for a short while waiting for my transfer to the Seattle area.  The plane ride sure was neat, though a little scary.  But I was SO happy to get out and stretch my legs and smell the cool crisp Seattle air!  I got the best of my new foster Mom and quickly heard the words every dog wants to hear, “Good girl!” after I went potty outside!  Duh, I’ve been doing that forever, but I’ll eat up all the praise I can get!

My new foster family has two kids and I LOOOOVVVE them so much!  They are really fun to run after and I get to snuggle and listen to stories with them at night.  The kids feed me, but my foster Mom or Dad are always the ones with the leash when we walk.  With training, I think I can walk the kids someday.  Right now, Foster Mom says I need a bit of leash training and someone who can assure me that it’s okay to walk on the sidewalk when all of those scary cars drive by.  One or two, I can handle… but when we are on the busier road, I get a little nervous.

Here’s what my 8-year-old said about me: ““Daffodil is really sweet and likes to chase you around. She will go to the door when she wants to be let out.  She needs to work on her play biting, but other than that, she’s good!”

I am a LOT of fun if I do say so myself and I can’t wait to meet you and snuggle up with you!  Can you show me more of the Seattle area?  I need to see the mountains first hand, I need to experience the ocean… chase seagulls, look for whales!"

Daffy is a fan of chew toys, running, playing in the water and fetching as long as you will play with her. She is very clever and recently learned how to catch popcorn with her foster family! When she isn't playing she is very sweet and loving and enjoys her cuddles.  She would love to be able to play in the water and sun all day and then crash and sleep next to her family members in the evening. We have promised her she will get to see snow topped mountains and the ocean with her new family and after being saved from a high kill shelter in Louisiana she deserves nothing less.

Catahoula's are a breed few have heard of so we encourage adopters to do some research before applying. They are smart and loyal and will need consistent training but you will get back what you give ten fold!

As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from preapproved adopters.  Please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $400 which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and microchipping.
