Meet the handsome Duncan! Isn't he a gem! He is a fun loving puppy who loves his toys and really enjoys playing with other dogs. He likes to be outside, but also likes to sleep by the fireplace. He can be cautious when first meeting new people or in new places, but warms up quickly. As he was rescued off the side of the road he is still adjusting to loud noises and cars- we can't blame him! He is a smart, eager to please puppy who just wants to make his people happy!

Duncan's favorite  games are playing  Tug of war with a rope toy and fetch with tennis balls, so he is looking for a family willing to play with him! Whilst Duncan would love to meet a family with children that will grow up with him we won't count you out if that's not you. His ideal folks would be active and outdoorsy who would share his potential love for hikes and trips to the lake or ocean. He would be fine with another fur sibling or content without, as long as he wasn't left alone too long. He also is still a growing puppy and there is no way to know how big he will get. He has the potential to be quite large and his adopters should know and be ok with that before they adopt him. "Puppy calculators" are extremely unreliable and we have no idea how big his mama and daddy were as he was found alone!

Duncan isn't completely house trained but is doing much better. He's like a toddler that just waits too long because he is playing and he can't hold it any longer. He will go to the door and let you know, but sometimes he just can't wait! Does NOT poop inside ever and can hold it in his kennel for at least 6 hours. His foster went 8 hours once, thinking she could sleep in and nope!

He's an absolutely sweetheart. A big, goofy baby! Very submissive, will hide behind his foster mom when her little dogs pretend to attach him. He has very dry skin, which will benefit from the odd oatmeal bath, just know he has a little dandruff, not fleas! Brushing helps and he loves it. He doesn't sit well to have his nails done, so the vet trimmed them after his neuter, while he was still sedated! He will go to his kennel, but needs to be encouraged with a toy or a treat! He'll cry for a bit, but settles down quickly and especially when he doesn't hear anyone else awake! He likes to get up once he hears folks up and about but after he goes outside, he will curl up and go back to sleep. Duncan loves his stuffed animals, rope toys, playing tug of war, and tennis balls. Still jumps when excited, but working on that. LOVES the fosters' neighbors 2 year old little boy! He cries when they leave him! He may be too rough with cats, the foster catsare evil and hiss so he stays away, but if he had the chance, he'd love to play with them.

As with all puppies Duncan cannot be left alone more than 3-4hrs as he is still working on perfecting his potty training as previously mentioned. Part of our adoption contract is a promise to attend a puppy training class to ensure he has a great start learning the rules of life as a family member.  Are you ready to commit to training? Have a hefty dose of patience and love to hand out? Are you ready for puppy breath, cuddles, laughter and more? Then perhaps Duncan is the boy for you :)  Remember the time you put into your dog will be returned ten fold! Read on for instructions on how to apply:

As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from preapproved adopters.  Please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $400 which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and microchipping.
