Tootsie is an energetic happy puppy who learns super fast. Like all Catahoula's he has a bit of a stubborn streak but when you persevere he can be a star!  Please do your research on this breed before applying, they are very intelligent and loyal family members but aren't the right fit for everyone. Originally bred to hunt hogs in Louisiana they are looking for a leader and as such nothing in your house will be for free- they love to work their brains by sitting for a treat, fetching a toy etc. Tootsie will need space to run and play, and a family who want to spend that quality time with him socializing and learning. He will need lots of puppy chew toys and training is a MUST. The time and effort you put into his puppyhood will be returned 100 fold! 

Like many rescue pups Tootsie is a little guarded when eating, not aggressive but more afraid someone will take it away before he has a chance to eat it :( He is learning to sit and wait until given permission to eat. He is a young puppy and though he is doing well with his potty training will sometimes pee if excited or frightened. He gets along very well with other dogs and children.

As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from preapproved adopters.  Please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $ which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and microchipping.
