Meet sweet Maggie, we aren't sure what this little girl has been through but boy does she need some loving! She is a nervous young lady who just wants to be loved and with her people. She is ok with other dogs once she has had a chance to get to know them and similarly new folks are intimidating but if you give her time to come say hello she will slowly warm up. She's not so nervous that she will run and hide from people - she wants to be in the same room as you, but noisy hectic environments are not her thing.

Her foster Mom said, " Maggie is a beautiful, well-behaved dog with a very loving and affectionate nature hiding behind a shy exterior. She is great with kids. She is slightly nervous of other dogs and crowds, although this should change as her confidence grows. The right, caring family will get to see this lovely dog truly blossom as she comes out of her shell."

She is good with older children but we think young children move a little too fast and are too unpredictable to make her feel safe. She is looking for a home that will understand her fears and help her to slowly build her confidence through socialization and hopefully a training class.

She does ok on a leash but will stop when she sees someone coming especially if they have another dog with them. It will take her time and patience to build a strong bond with her human to help her past these fears, could that person be you?? Whilst Maggie has no idea how to ask for love, if you hug her she will lean on you.

Maggie is potty trained and crate trained but will need a training class to build on her socialization and confidence. She isn't going to be a dog park dog at least not at first until she gains in confidence but she is going to be a great member of your pack once settled in! Although crate trained Maggie is a little vocal when left home in her crate alone so probably isn't best suited to an apartment or condo situation. Outside her crate I have never heard her make a sound!

If you think you have the love to give that Maggie so badly needs, please read on for info on how to apply to be her forever family!

As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from preapproved adopters.  Please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $350 which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and microchipping.
