Dutch Shepherd / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Medium
Do you love the look of a German Shepherd but don't have the room for a larger dog? Then Roo could be the pup for you! Check out that handsome face! If you are looking for a cuddle bug who would like nothing more than to snuggle with you for naps then Roo is definitely your guy!
Roo is a young fun energetic dog who can be a little bit mischievous and loves to play and play. He is a clever boy who learns fast so will need toys and playtime so he doesn't get bored and find his own fun! He's not a big chewer and is learning to play fetch but doesn't always remember he is supposed to bring the toy back to you. He really is a people dog who loves to be around his humans- on top of them whenever possible! He doesn't know what personal space is yet and thinks he is a person too. Do you have a lap and enough love for him? He is kennel trained and is working on his leash skills but doesn't roam as he prefers to be with his person.
As with all our puppies Roo's adoption contract states you will complete a training class with him, he wants to be sure you know all the right commands and is willing to learn them by your side. He would LOVE to have another dog to play with and kids if possible but so long as you don't want to leave him home alone all day while you work he could be the dog for you!
Here's what his foster mom says about him: " Roo? Seriously? THIS is the dog I fall in love with? He doesn't even LOOK like a girl's dog! How did this happen? Roo is slightly over a year old and 25 lbs exactly. My Dream Dog! He's a tiny Dutch Shepherd. Shedding is low if any and housebroken. He loves his person and apparently I am his person right now :D He is the official Nap Buddy champion, the highest honor in the Bailey house. He loves kids, toddler to teen and loves dogs however can be snippy with smaller dogs who don't appreciate his playfulness. He kennels when he's told to get in his bed and can sit, shake and stay. I'm sure with any amount of training he could probably drive a car and read a book....he's just that smart!! Roo requires a home where he could be with his person all the time. He doesn't like to be alone though he does wonderfully when crated. Left alone for a long period makes him look for things to do till you get home.....he's a fabric chewer but only when left alone. He likes cats but is a little too interested for a cat's liking. Given time I believe he would be fine. Hey, no one is perfect but he's really really close!!! He would love family with kids and another dog to play with, but would be just fine in a single person home with enough affection and interaction. He's a Lover!!" Please think hard about whether you are ready for the commitment to a young dog, they need time, love and lots of patience! If you think Roo could be your perfect match please read the following application information: As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from preapproved adopters.
